Art Director, Architectural Digest

 Architectural Digest is looking for a talented and highly motivated art director to join its editorial team, based in Dubai.

The successful candidate will be a top-flight, dynamic designer and director with several years of luxury consumer magazine and editorial experience at a senior level. Experience in interior design or fashion related titles is essential.  ITP seeks a motivated editor for its monthly Construction Week Arabic publication.

Construction Week Arabic is the industry voice for the GCC’s largest construction market. The monthly title is a vital source of industry information for contractors, consultants, developers and suppliers operating in the Kingdom as they work to deliver the government’s 2030 vision.

The right candidate for this role must have outstanding writing and subbing skills and be passionate about creating innovative content that involves the readers and builds communities around the Construction Week Arabic brand. The editor must also be an energetic self-starter and have strong organisational and project management skills.

We are looking for someone with at least three years’ experience on a B2B title, with an understanding of construction industry and general business issues, an enthusiastic and outgoing attitude and an appetite for a challenge.

The role is permanent, full-time and based in the tax-free coastal city of Dubai, with frequent travel to Saudi Arabia required.

A team player, the ideal candidate will bring with them a tried-and-tested list of contacts with international photographers in the luxury, travel, lifestyle, fashion, design and interiors spaces. Responsibilities:

  • Picture research, via libraries, photographers and any other source, including rate negotiation, administering picture usage records and supplying picture credit information.
  • Production of shoots, which includes sourcing talent, negotiating rates, coordinating logistics, providing a call sheet and, when required, managing things on the ground.

The Position
The senior reporter must generate copy and perform other editorial tasks as required by their editor. Editor, Construction Week Online

Construction Week is the leading construction industry publication in the Middle East. It is one of the foundation brands of ITP Publishing and is represented in the market by a weekly print magazine and ConstructionWeekOnline.com, the brand's website.

The online editor is responsible for the overall editorial quality of the website, growing traffic figures and page impressions. S/he has an essential role in motivating reporters to generate strong news and continually remind the team of the content types that attracts readers. The editor will also be expected to contribute to the group’s print titles.

The online editor's primary role is to attract readers. It is an editorial and operational/management one. On the editorial front, you will be writing news stories and leaders yourself, sourcing content from print colleagues, editing copy (with particular attention paid to headlines and newsletters), updating spot polls, sourcing photos, creating image galleries and coming up with creative ideas that drive traffic.

You will always be looking for new ways to make your site even more appealing to readers. Also, you must build up your knowledge of SEO and use the skills learned to improve your site’s position in search rankings. You should also make use of social media to drive traffic.

From an operational perspective, you will liaise with other editorial departments, and drive the relationship between digital design and development. We are looking for a forward thinking and confident Facilities and Safety Supervisor to maintain and develop our security and health and safety procedures within our busy publishing office. 

As a supervisory role, the ideal candidate should have strong motivational skills and have experience leading a small team. Other duties include but are not restricted to: administration, regular building checks, dealing with emergency alarms, risk assessment, investigation reporting, first aid and fire warden management, developing solid relationships with facilities management, our landlord, Civil Defence and other relevant stakeholders.

• Full editing responsibility for Harper’s Bazaar Qatar, Harper’s Bazaar Bride and Harper’s Bazaar Junior.
• Supporting the editor-in-chief and acting editor-in-chief in all matters of content generation, syndication, commercial opportunities and magazine production.

Between September 2016 and Mid-January 2015:
• In the absence of the editor-in-chief and acting editor-in-chief, serving as acting editor on Harper’s Bazaar Arabia.
• In the absence of the editor-in-chief and acting editor-in-chief assuming responsibility for planning, producing and executing Harper’s Bazaar Arabia core magazine plus brand extensions and supplements.

Additional Information:
The role is a full time position based in ITP’s Dubai Media City office and will involve working directly with the Publishing Director and the Commercial Director. The core business working hours are Sunday – Thursday 9-6pm, however flexible working ethics are expected. The final package will be determined based on level of experience.

Print & Paper Procurement Manager

We are looking for an experienced Print & Paper Procurement Manager with a background in the Print, Publishing and/or Paper industry.

The purpose of this position will be to manage the purchase, procurement and storage of all paper requirements for the offset printing of the company’s magazine portfolio. The main duties of the role include:

• Supplier search / supplier selection according to the organisation's paper requirements.
• Actively conduct problem solving with paper mills and shipping agents. This includes the development of action plans together with the suppliers and tracking the implementation of the defined measures
• Carry out contract and price negotiations
• Develop strong working relationships with publishers to understand and influence requirements
• Writing and delivering a sourcing plan considering local and international buying opportunities

The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years experience in a similar role and have proven skills in contract management, negotiation and both strategic and tactical procurement. Technical understanding is essential as well as experience in driving down TCO.
The successful candidate will have relevant degree qualifications and CIPS / MCIPS will be highly advantageous.

In addition, we are looking for someone who has:
• Intermediate knowledge in print production
• Experience in supplier management
• Good contract and price negotiation experience
• Experience in project management and knowledge
• Analytical Skills to work with multiple vendors to determine the best deals for the company, and have to evaluate the many pros and cons of each, based on price, quality, speed of delivery and other factors.
• Decision-Making Skills and the ability to use the information gathered by yourself and the purchasing agents to make decisions on behalf of your company.
• Math Skills, needed to analyse prices and get the best deals possible

Selling across print, digital, awards programmes and events, candidates will champion sales, manage top client accounts, and personally lead the commercial charge on one of our core brands. A successful track record in sales, excellent communication skills, a passion for meeting clients, and building relationships is a must; while previous management experience of monthly or weekly magazines is highly desirable.
