ITP Consumer Publishing is looking for Maternity leave cover for two positions on the leading luxury women’s editorial brand in the Middle East, Harper’s Bazaar Arabia. The two roles required are:

1) Acting Editor
2) Acting Deputy Editor

Role Summary:

Acting Editor, 1st August 2016 through to 31st March 2017

• Responsible for subbing all content across all Harper’s Bazaar Arabia platforms and brand extensions. Producing My List, This Month, Escape, Your Life section of the magazine and other features and news as required.
• Full editing responsibility for Harper’s Bazaar Qatar, Harper’s Bazaar Bride and Harper’s Bazaar Junior.
• Supporting the editor-in-chief and acting editor-in-chief in all matters of content generation, syndication, commercial opportunities and magazine production.

Between September 2016 and Mid-January 2015:
• In the absence of the editor-in-chief and acting editor-in-chief, serving as acting editor on Harper’s Bazaar Arabia.
• In the absence of the editor-in-chief and acting editor-in-chief assuming responsibility for planning, producing and executing Harper’s Bazaar Arabia core magazine plus brand extensions and supplements.
• In the absence of the editor-in-chief and acting editor-in-chief, assuming responsibility for sending all magazines scheduled within this timeframe to press on time, to budget and accurately.

Acting Deputy Editor, Mid-September 2016 through to Mid-January 2017

• Responsible for subbing all content across all Harper’s Bazaar Arabia platforms and brand extensions. Producing My List, This Month, Escape, Your Life section of the magazine and other features and news as required.
• Supporting the acting editor in all matters of content generation, syndication, commercial opportunities and magazine production.

Key responsibilities for both roles:
• Creating and running the flatplan for Harper’s Bazaar and all associated supplements and brand extensions.
• Planning and overseeing the execution of all editorial content.
• Selecting relevant syndicated content.
• Commissioning, briefing and producing local content.
• Ensuring all editorial content is relevant, accurate and engaging for Harper’s Bazaar Arabia’s readership of primarily GCC Arab women aged 30-60.
• Writing coverlines and working on the cover design with the creative director.
• Sending the magazine, supplements and brand extensions to press on time and to budget.
• Managing the Harper’s Bazaar Arabia editorial team.
• Working with the commercial and publishing teams to execute their requirements.
• Representing the brand at events for fashion, beauty and otherwise whenever relevant.

We are looking for individuals with proven experience as a very senior section editor, deputy editor or higher level on an international print magazine or newspaper with proven ability to plan, produce and execute multiple editorial products to exemplary standards and tight deadlines.

• Possess at least five years’ experience in similar roles
• Be fluent in English – both oral and written

Additional Information:
The role is a full time position based in ITP’s Dubai Media City office and will involve working directly with the Publishing Director and the Commercial Director. The core business working hours are Sunday – Thursday 9-6pm, however flexible working ethics are expected. The final package will be determined based on level of experience.

Editor - Aviation Business

ITP Business is searching for an experienced editor to take over the reins of its industry leading B2B title, Aviation Business. The magazine has been writing in-depth news reports, case studies and features, offering industry insight and vital market information to its audience of key aviation decision makers for the last 15 years.

The Position

The editor is the hands-on project manager for his or her individual publication. S/he must ensure that the product is written to a high standard, is well-designed and is produced on time.

The editor must excel at project management, have outstanding writing and subbing skills and be passionate about creating innovative content that involves the readers and builds communities around the Aviation Business brand.

The editor must understand his/her reader’s business needs and challenges, and address these issues in the publication. The editor must be constantly thinking about how to improve the magazine’s content and its commercial performance.

The editor must also be visible in the market and must be a strong ambassador for the brand. Internally, the editor must forge strong and productive relationships with sales managers, designers, photographers and production colleagues.


Core Tasks

• Plan content for each issue, ensuring the features list is adhered to
• Plan each cover, plus a backup option, and set-piece features with your designer
• Brief the design team on each issue and offer ideas on presentation
• Manage the flatplan
• Source high-quality pictures, using ITP photographers wherever possible

Qualifications & Experience

The candidate should have a degree-level education from a reputable university, appropriate journalism qualifications are also desirable. A minimum of five years’ experience working in a reporter/staff-writer/desk-head role is required. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate how they have successfully worked as part of a team and developed their skills on the job.

The Editor must have at least three years’ experience on a B2B title, have a strong understanding of the aviation industry, possess an enthusiastic and outgoing attitude, and enjoy a challenge. Experience on a similar business title would be beneficial.

Table Sales Executive

ITP Business publishes business-to-business content in print and online. ITP magazines and websites are complemented by a portfolio of awards programmes, events and conferences.

The table sales executive will primarily be involved in sourcing and contacting suitable companies and individuals to encourage them to take part in our multiple awards programmes that serve several industries throughout the year. The role includes building relationships, educating contacts on the awards and guiding them through the nomination and table booking process. Converting contacts to nominate and book tables or seats at the awards is at the heart of this exciting, new position.

The successful candidate will be target driven, have excellent organisational skills and will be a strong verbal and written communicator. An advocate of customer service, the table sales executive will have the ability to multi-task effectively, have a proactive approach to tasks and be able to foster good working relationships. 

The successful candidate will be educated to secondary school level, with advanced education in sales or events related subjects an advantage.  A minimum of one year experience is required working in a delegate sales/client relations role, preferably with an events company in the Middle East.  This is a fulltime permanent role based in Dubai.

Fashion Director, Esquire Middle East

Esquire Middle East is looking for an experienced Fashion Director to produce and manage its style content across the magazine, supplements and digital platforms.

Print & Paper Procurement Manager

We are looking for an experienced Print & Paper Procurement Manager with a background in the Print, Publishing and/or Paper industry.

The purpose of this position will be to manage the purchase, procurement and storage of all paper requirements for the offset printing of the company’s magazine portfolio. The main duties of the role include:

• Supplier search / supplier selection according to the organisation's paper requirements.
• Actively conduct problem solving with paper mills and shipping agents. This includes the development of action plans together with the suppliers and tracking the implementation of the defined measures
• Carry out contract and price negotiations
• Develop strong working relationships with publishers to understand and influence requirements
• Writing and delivering a sourcing plan considering local and international buying opportunities

The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years experience in a similar role and have proven skills in contract management, negotiation and both strategic and tactical procurement. Technical understanding is essential as well as experience in driving down TCO.
The successful candidate will have relevant degree qualifications and CIPS / MCIPS will be highly advantageous.

In addition, we are looking for someone who has:
• Intermediate knowledge in print production
• Experience in supplier management
• Good contract and price negotiation experience
• Experience in project management and knowledge
• Analytical Skills to work with multiple vendors to determine the best deals for the company, and have to evaluate the many pros and cons of each, based on price, quality, speed of delivery and other factors.

Digital Editor, Harper’s Bazaar Arabia

ITP Consumer Publishing is looking for an ambitious and talented Digital Editor to drive, manage and lead the online and social media presentation of the key and secondary Harper’s Bazaar brands (five in total) plus Best Dressed special edition, across web for desktop and mobile platforms, also working in collaboration with Marketing and Editorial and reporting to the Publishing Director.

Key responsibilities:

• To work closely with the teams across the entire Bazaar brand portfolio, which includes, but is not limited to, ART, Interiors, Junior, Bride, Qatar, The Arabic Edition and Best Dressed, as well as events and marketing, to ensure that each is being presented to its full digital potential, and leading them into thinking about digital representation at every editorial, marketing and commercial opportunity.
• To develop a digital editorial strategy and editorial calendar with a schedule and guidelines that everyone is working to.
• To manage the workload and upload process of HarpersBazaarArabia.com on a daily basis, and its relevant social media platforms (currently 14 separate accounts across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest)
• Help source and manage freelance media specialists for key digital projects such as Bazaar TV.
• To oversee and create bespoke regional online content for the site, as well as manage syndication of digital content from other Bazaar territories.
• Confidence to take the initiative and work with a small team and be prepared to work long hours to reach tight editorial and commercial deadlines when needed
• A working knowledge of basic content management systems (CMS) such as Wordpress and/or Drupal is essential. A fair knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop is preferable.
• To respect the editorial integrity and international guidelines of the brands when producing online content.
• To understand and work within the commercial realities of publishing in the Middle East and the pressures of the current climate.
• To work closely with Hearst Media International HQ in NYC, and leverage on the resource and team in place, as well as working in line with their international brand guidelines, and managing necessary approvals on local content from international Hearst offices, e.g. cover stories for web.

Additional skills required:

• Creative flair that continually produces engaging stories for users / readers
• Structured, scheduled content management
• Brand and product development to support digital projects

Desired profile:

The type of candidate who will be successful in this role is someone who understands media as a whole, but is specifically experienced in digital launches and must have a minimum of two years' experience at Digital Editor level on a product, title or brand focussed on women’s luxury lifestyle or fashion. Crucially, they must be flexible and have a can-do, positive attitude which shows they are respectful, responsible and dedicated, and by default demonstrate passion, brand understanding and leadership.

We are looking for someone who is dynamic, proactive, and tenacious and likes to work in a multicultural environment. The individual needs to be accountable, socially smart, savvy and inquisitive, and extremely organised, using their own initiative and communication skills – and work well within a small, talented team.

Additional information:

Reporting to the Publishing Director, the Digital Editor will manage a daily upload system that encompasses marketing collateral (newsletters, events and commercial competitions) plus any freelance image/video support required for specific projects or busy periods. Candidates should appreciate that the role is Dubai and office based however travel on key projects may be required. Official hours are 9:00am – 6:00pm however out of hours work is expected on occasion, making up for quieter periods.
